Senate President Franklin M. Drilon said today that Interior Secretary
Mar Roxas, the Liberal Party standard bearer in next year's election, should be
the one to decide who should be his vice-presidential candidate.
"Our position is that the vice presidential tandem of Secretary
Roxas is something that he must decide by himself, because he or she will be
the partner in running the government. So our position is his preference will be
the one that will be respected," Drilon said.
On the matter of Vice President Jejomar Binay's criticisms of the Aquino
administration, Drilon said that since VP Binay was in the Cabinet for five
years, "if there were disagreements between him and the President, the
option of quitting the Cabinet that early because (he did) not see eye to eye
with (the) President on certain issues was an option available to him."
Drilon pointed out that since Binay stayed in the Cabinet,
"presumably (he) was supportive of the policies of President Aquino. After
so many years, he suddenly turned around and is now saying those things. That’s
his difficulty." –End-
